 Downshifting an automatic, Is it bad? |

Somebody told me that downshifting in an automatic is bad for the transmission because it forces it or something.... I have never heard this and I don't know why the manufacturers would let you do it if it's bad for the car. Any ideas on whether this is fact or fiction?

the only shifting i do is turn on/off the overdrive.
when i need some engine braking, i leave the over drive off and that would help slow down the car. If you want to kinda roll and cruz turn it on and the car will roll. But i hate when i drive the auto shifts the gears at 4000 rpm.. errr what waste of gas. |
