I am about to begin my quest into swapping the celica. My first thought was to get the 3s-gte like everyone else and laugh at every civic that comes my way. hahahaha. But that would be the easy way out. i want to be able to kill other racers without going turbo. so i was thinking about the 3S-GE. Beams if possible to obtain. i wanna know if this engine has a chance against the GSR engines.

out run what turbo cars? swapping in a 3sge would put your celica at a little faster than a stock GSR, and probably the same as an ITR and keeping it NA, there isnt much you can do to the engine to make the car faster(just like every other NA 4 cylinder DOHC engine tuned for as much power and practicality as possible from the factory). it would most likely max out at low 14's(with out lots of internal work, $$$), that is if you plan on having some sort of interior it would be faster than stock, no doubt about that, but it wont be that fast compaired to the cars on the market now and it cant be made too much faster while still being NA and wouldnt you really kick your self in the ass, if you swapped in a 3sge, put the basic bolt ons on the car, only to lose to stock srt-4's or WRX's with intake and exhaust, then decide to turbo the 3sge to get more power when you could have started off with a 3sgte? im sorry, but no toyota NA 4 cylinder is going to outrun anything more than IHE hondas/acuras(you would be suprised at how many are turboed, or extensively modified) if you want just a little more power, than go for a 3sge but from reading what you want, dont expect to get it from a 3sge. power and reliability have an inverse relationship the more power, the less reliable. if you dont want the hassle of checking the oil once every day or two, or letting the car cool down after a hard run. then the 3sge is for you(allthough stock 3sgte's go to 200k miles with little trouble) and power needs to be sacrificed -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
