No that's not drastic at all. I do put on and remove pinstripes all day at work and using a heat gun (hair dryer) makes it soooo much easier. After you get it off, if you still have some adhesive, buy adhesive remover to get that off. If there's any discoloration try using a buffer at a very low speed with a mild buffing compound.
