the Solo Baric series i heard hits really hard, so i decided to get soem S8L7s
they are dual 4-ohm speakers with 450watts max. im looking to get a profile amp because they have a nice warranty and are good amps from what i hear. basically im curious what kind of power i want to run. there's KenWoods that i would get that put out 150X2 for thesame price as a profile putting 200X2 one profile does 200X2 @4 and 400 or 450X2 @2...i don't plan to blow em, but should i stay away from it for safety? all opinions appreciated. -------------------- ![]() |

I just looked at the kicker site. I'm pretty sure the 450watts max is the combined total power not each voicecoil. You may want to email kicker to make sure.
As for profile. Yes they are cheaper. Yes they have a good warranty. BUT if you compare a quality amp of the same power to a profile, there is no comparison. My old boss at the stereo shop I worked at always said that quality amps will cost atleast $1 a watt or more. You really do get what you pay for. The other thing is that when profile says the amp is 400 watts they mean peak power. When xtant, kicker, mtx or audiobahn rates an amp at 400 watts it is rms power. The good amps are rated in rms because it is a much more accurate rating. |
