Hey guys,

I am going to be putting an amp in my car that is 800W MAX. My current setup will probably be 200x2 (2 OHM ) + 200x1 (4ohm) RMS. What gauge power wire should I use? 4 or 8? and what thickness speaker wire should i use?

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the info guys! Lets assume that I am not going to be adding anymore amps then I should technically be ok with 8G and assuming that I use 8G and its not enough in terms of power handling, what will happen? Blow fuse or "fire" wire biggrin.gif

8ga should be fine. Just use the right size fuse and make sure it's as close to the battery as possible. (Less than 18"). The fuse is there to protect the wiring not the amp. The reason to keep it close to the battery is in the event of an accident if the battery moves or the wire is cut there will be less chance of dead shorting the battery.
