Ok to my understanding i will need a stand alone ecu in order to make a 3rd gen 3sgte pass emissions in the states. Now i dont know exactly what this entails. If someone could explain this to me that would be great. What all goes into a stand alone ecu, how will this effect the engine itself. And are there any other routes that i should consider. Thanks for your time.

Well the 3rd gen along with every other JDM motor doesnt have an EGR. Which basically recirculates exhaust until its less toxic. I dont kno what the ecu has to do with it but im sure something.
A standalone is going to cost you quite a bit. Around 800 - 1200. If your going to go stand alone I would research its other uses. Such as remapping for 93 octane or 91 depending on ur location. A/F ratios and what not. -------------------- |
