Some more food for thought.. and I could be wrong, but I believe we have now seen the longest ever run of a model celica with the 7th gen... (closely followed by the 6th gen) and that is not helping all of your theories.
Surely Toyota would have at least run a concept car in a motorshow by now if they were working on a new car... Edit - And I have been to 2 big Aussie shows with all sorts of Toyota concepts, and followed the Japanese ones to some extent, and there wasn't anything that remotely resembled a celica.
