Ok guys don't blast me on this I know the 7afe is not a performance engine. But since the recent difficulty of getting the wiring done for the 3sgte and 4agze(which no one on this sight has even completed) I'm thinking of turboing my 7afe.
Now this is what I'm thinking of doing, finding a low mileage 7afe, and putting 4age pistons and rods, and a beefier crank in it, will the 4age crank work? Then turboing it instead of the engine I have now in my car. Of course putting in the larger fuel pump and bigger injectors. Oh and also swapping to a manual transmission. To me this would be more plug and play and less hassle I think than a 3sgte and pretty reliable also I will be able to run higher boost then 8 psi. Will the 7afe tranny be able to handle this, if not what tranny should I use? What do you guys think? |

i dont think the 4a crank will work, because it has a shorter stroke..
about you engine idea.. how about this... put the turbo on your orginal engine and spend time port and polishing the new engine.. If you have anything wrong with your new turbo set up it will just blow your old worn motor instead of your new one.. This post has been edited by Hanyo: Jun 14, 2004 - 3:21 AM |
