Hi all,

Can anyone help me identify what or where in the UK I can get the speed limiter and spedometer converted on a 1994 JDM SS-II ST202?

I bought the car from an importer who was apparently selling the car on behalf of another private importer, hence the speedo only reads KPM (and only to 180!) and the car cuts out (rather dramatically) once it reaches this. The dealer promised to sort out the speedo and expressed supprise about the limiter but since it's an auto the only solution he could provide was a new speedo face that reads up to 110 MPH... I also understand from other threads that cutting wires isn't wise on an auto to remove the limiter.

Apart from the obvious danger of the thing cutting out while accelarating round a corner, it's getting a bit embarrising being passed on the motorway by, well just about everything....

Yep I need both. I measured the speed today with a GPS set to read MPH and it cuts at about 112 MPH with the speedometer at the end stop (just as the auto goes in to top gear in sport mode) so it cuts dead on 180 KPH and the speedometer is a little over optimistic.

I know I can fit a converter on the feed to the speedo but but was unsure if doing this to the ECU (as is normal practice for manuals I believe) would mess up the automatic gearbox shfts.

...and yes, when it cuts I pull over to let the queue pass. frown.gif Seriously, for those not familier with UK roads, our cars often run at two speeds, stopped and flat out. You haven't experienced fear until you've been in a 10 mile queue of traffic all doing 90+ MPH with the cars spaced around <10 metres apart. If you try and leave a gap someone in a 1.3 litre vauxhall nova will pull in in front and the person behind will flash you! rolleyes.gif
