i just got a set of 17's and i've heard that you have to get your speedo adjusted. where do you go to have this taken care of and is it possible that i can do it myself?

Actually, I think you meant "tire" not rim. The rims for each of these wheels are the same size. That is the whole point. You can use 17" rims with tires that are actually smaller in outside circumfrance than the stock tires on 15" stock GT rims.

i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
