Today a production-ready version of Invision Board 2.0, the forum software that powers the 6G Celicas Forums, was released. biggrin.gif

So over the next few days, I'm going to update the forums to this new version, which means more features, less bugs, and better speed for all of us. biggrin.gif

The forums should still be nearly fully operational, except for they may be down for a few minutes here and there over the next couple days. They'll probably look different initially as well, but soon everything will be back to normal, or better than normal. smile.gif

Yeah...um...I think I'll stick with Invision Board 1.2 for a while after all. The upgrade to Invision Board 2.0 did not go so well...it went horribly to be more specific.

After uploading the new files, the upgrade script messed up somehow and couldn't manipulate and update some database tables, so nothing worked at all. I just deleted all of the forum files and all of the database information, and restored everything to a backup made just before I attempted the upgrade today, so everything should be back to normal.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can upgrade the forums at this point. Version 2.0 of Invision Board is a free trial until you pay $200 for the licensed version of the software. That wouldn't be so bad, except for the fact that I'm not going to pay $200 for software that I'm not even sure will work. The trial version doesn't work for me, and Invision doesn't offer any sort of support whatsoever for the trial version...they expect you to pay $200 without even knowing if the software will work...doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. confused.gif
