i've got an st coupe. i've been thinking of doing an engine swap next summer but i can't decide which one: 3sgte (200hp stock but sounds way to complicated for an st) or the 4a-gze(160hp stock and would become a 4agte cuz i'd take the supercharger off and turbo it). my goal is about 250-300hp in the long run.
i'm really liking the idea of a 4a-gze but i'm worried that a 1.6L engine won't be able to give me the power i want in the long run. also i've noticed that there's a lot less info on the site about this swap and was wondering if anyone new what tranny to use cuz i doubt the stock 7afe drivetrain could take what i wanna throw at it. also has anyone ran into any wiring problems with this swap cuz that seems to be a major problem with the 3sgte. btw - i don't think i'd be doing this swap myself either way so a hybrid is out of the question cuz they'd charge me an arm and a leg thanks, jeremy -------------------- ![]() |

i haven't seen a successful 4agze swap in to a 6gc. you'd probably need a standalone system to work that. people do suggest doing this swap, that it's possible, but not too many here has tried it. the one person that has, had a problem getting it up & running. i don't doubt his skills either, it's just difficult to get working.
for a 3sgte swap, you'd need GT motor mounts, and the same amount of wiring / trouble than you would with anything else. i'd honestly consider this route for some serious power. i'm not saying a 4agze swap isn't possible, it's just a road less traveled around here. |
