Has anyone removed the big soft part of the dash that covers pretty much everything? I need to remove it so that I can hide my alarm brain and run some wires a bit better, and I'm not sure how to go about doing this. Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

i took out my dash about week and half ago. very time consuming. first have to take out mid console, cd player, glove box, and the guard under steering wheel.
after you do all that, you have to unplug your wiring harness due to it being connected to the dash. then you will have about 7-8 bolts to take off for the dash.

CAUTION: you will have to unplug and remove airbag. You will want to unplug battery and let sit for 15 minutes. Then you won't have any questions about unplugging it.

You will probably need to loosen the steering column for you to get the dash out. That big item won't go over the steering wheel w/out you taking those 2 bolts off under the steering column and pulling it down.

But the crappiest part is taking apart all the wiring and connecting it all back.

I had my car broken into and dash was broken. I replaced it with my dash in other celica. i had to take harnesses off both dashes and exchange them. And I'm not looking forward to doing it again in couple weeks when i start doing st205 3sgte swap smile.gif
