I just noticed, and don't ask me why i just now noticed this, but wouldn't the top mount intercooler be better over all. Especially for drag. If you don't follow, you'll notice that there is only half a foot from the turbo to the intercooler, and another half a foot from the intercooler to the intake manifold. That means LOTS less turbo lag. So, wouldn't your gains (at normal psi) be the same from putting all the piping and weight into the front mount intercooler be the same as leaving your top mount, with the at max, foot of piping??????

Well, you had an inaccuracy in your post. You stated that top mount = less lag, and thats not really true.
As far as improving a top mount- if you can get water cooled thats one thing, and then a hood scoop (WRX style or 'vette style is probably best). But you're very limited sizewise on a TMIC. The easiest way to improve IC performance is by getting a larger one (more surface area) |
