Several times I've heard on these boards that advancing the timing a few degrees can be beneficial to both your fuel consumption and throttle response. Can anybody tell me the right way to advance your timing?

Ive heard people say to use a timing light and to adjust it on the distributor, but I need some explanations of what a timing light is/does and the best method to adjust timing. Thanks in advance guys.

OK i confirm.. TE1 and E1 are the same for the 7afe.. but you cant adjust the timing on the 7afe engine, because you cant turn the distributor.
