I have the 5sfe. I need to know a few things about the fuel filter. Is it under the air box? Does anyone have a how to? How much time does it take to replace (estimated)? What complications are there to changing the filter? Will this improve mpg and throttle response? My GT has 183k miles and the accelerator feels a little sluggish at times. I dont think the previous owner changed the filter at all. She was driving around with a big space missing from the gasket that goes on the valve cover.

It is in the same place as the ST. Also if the filter is really old like you think it is. Among those things that 97 just listed, the filter will become clogged after a long time. I changed it in my old truck and MPG increased dramatically and so did throttle response. Gas gets to your fuel rail a lot faster if the filter is not clogged. Also you might want to consider changing your fuel pump as well. Sometimes those can crap out on you as well but as I understand it is a bitch to replace, because you have to take the fuel tank out.
