what's up guys, I'm planning on having my car repainted by the end of august and I'm gonna be doing a pretty extreme paint job. I want to paint it kandy red with two layers of metalflake. So I'd spray a silver base, then metal flake, then kandy red, then metalflake, and then my final clear. My idea is to have two layers of metalflake, one under the red kandy, and one over it, that way it's got red sparkles and silver ones. I'll be using House of Kolor paints.

Anybody with paint experience see any problems with doing that?

thanks,
Ryan

This is a quote from a how to guide @ H.O.K.
hope it helps you out.

KANDY COAT
(optional) Once you're satisfied with the flake application, allow flash time, then topcoat with 1-3 coats of Clear. Let dry overnight and D.A. sand with 240 no-fill sandpaper the next day. Be careful of high points and edges, as it is easy to sand through and ruin all you've done. Air and tack. Then begin Kandy coats. Follow label instructions. See appropriate tech sheets for Kandy application.

i didnt think you could paint Kandy colours over flake.....but is i read, i guess you can. I have seen cars here in sydney with rainbow metal flake and it looks F*#@ng unreal.......very out there...but you gotta have the right colour to do it.

Have a look at the House of Kolor web site. Its got some good how to guides.

good luck with the paint job.......
