I have posted on turboing my st, but have came to the decision to do a performance rebuild on the engine first. I have about 3k to put into the rebuild, and I am not sure thats enough since a mechanic will be doing the rebuild. Well basically I want to know it 3k will be enough. Does anyone know any good helpful web sites with good info and parts.

You DO NOT want to do that. Shaving a stock flywheel down to a weight that low is very dangerous. A stock flywheel is designed to be strong at the stock weight, and shaving lots of weight off of the flywheel makes it much weaker, increasing the likelihood that the flywheel will explode. And a flywheel exploding at high RPM is like a grenade going off. I've read about people losing their legs, and in more severe cases, their lives, due to lightened stock flywheels exploding. I actually knew a kid last year when I was at school who had a Volkswagen GTI. He was at the track and launched and his lightened flywheel exploded. My friend got lucky and made it out with only $4,500 worth of damage to his car. An innocent bystander watching, however, had to be rushed to the hospital because a fragment of the flywheel shot out of the car and fractured his skull. If you really want a lighter flywheel, get an aftermarket one, preferable made out of one-piece chromoly steel. I recently read about a multiple-piece aluminum flywheel coming apart in a Civic in a shop and causing all kinds of damage. The starter was the only thing that prevented the outside tooth portion of the flywheel from causing harm to the driver. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
