I have posted on turboing my st, but have came to the decision to do a performance rebuild on the engine first. I have about 3k to put into the rebuild, and I am not sure thats enough since a mechanic will be doing the rebuild. Well basically I want to know it 3k will be enough. Does anyone know any good helpful web sites with good info and parts.

Coomer, maybe you should let them know about your personal experience with that lightened flywheel of yours.

I hate my flywheel. It weighs 9 lbs. compared to the stock AE101 18 lb. flywheel, and it's too light for street use. I have to rev up the car to around 1,600 RPM when starting from a stop. If I don't, the car rattles and shudders and shakes horribly. And it's very hard to get used to driving the car like that...it feels like I'm slipping the clutch very badly whenever I launch from a stop. Also, you have to shift pretty quickly, as the RPMs drop quicker with the lightweight flywheel. I don't mind though, as I shift quickly anyway. Sometimes the shift from fourth to fifth when I'm really tired is a bit tough because those ratios are so close on my tranny though.

Those are the cons of the flywheel. On the other hand, my car revs up very, very quickly. When free-revving the car in neutral or from 4,000-on in first gear, I hit redline very quickly. My car buddies and people who want to hear the car are surprised at how quickly it revs up.

When I put the OEM AE101 flywheel and a new 212mm clutch kit in the car soon, I'll find out just how big of a difference the flywheel makes. I know the car will be a lot better on the street comfort-wise, but I know it'll be a bit slower.
