 What can be done to beef up the stock GT tranny?, already ran a search |

This has probably been discussed before, but I couldn't find what I needed when I ran a search. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what is needed to beef up the GT stock tranny, so it'll handle the 2nd gen 3sgte better. Orrr......do I really need to beef it up at all??

I am not an expert but here is a list of guys that will tell you differently: Sphinx (x2), Supersprnyt, Kuya1284, Dirty, Keoni (celica.net), rm2932, there's another guy from Hawaii (I can't remember his name), as well as others I do not know. These guys either have personal experience or know people that have personal experience with the GT tranny and the 3sgte and they will all tell you that the tranny is less than ideal for the swap. Some will have much less kind words. For what it is worth, I did not even consider keeping the GT tranny with my swap after all the adverse posts I read. (see buying and selling forum for real good deal on GT tranny...smiles) As for your question, I ran across a post on celica.net that said a tranny could be "shot pinged"? or something similar to that to strengthen it. I have no idea what that means or even if its true.
