*the numbers are quotes taken from 2nd post on supra tt engine swap thread by charlie97L*
1) Yes, the 2JZ has 320 HP stock, and the 3S-GTE has 225-255 HP (depending on the year). However the 3S-GTE has more potential than the 2JZ. how so? a stock longblock that can hold over 1000 whp and run 10.5's???.... ![]() 2) It is interesting to note, that in almost every instance when a tuning company has built a Supra to race, they put in a 3S-GTE. Why? You can get a lot more HP out of it. (I know, if you can do this, why can’t you put the 2JZ in the Celica? It is because you can mount the 3S-GTE longitudinally in the HUGE Supra engine bay, lots of room to work.) um wrong...they swap cause its lighter and can make up to the legal amount of power for that race circuit, and because there is more room to work with... ![]() 3) The 3S-GTE has won multiple World Rally Championships for Toyota, and Rallying is really the most strenuous test you can put on an engine. What has the 2JZ done, besides been in the Fast and the Furious? Nothing. true the 3s-gte is awesome, its used in rally cause its light and makes good power, they also keep it in a celica for rally! supras arent meant for rally! and just to let you know, f&f was a ricers dream come true...it doesnt give the supra any credit that it deserves. 4) While I’m on the F&F, Supras are not 10-second cars stock. And it’s going to take a lot more than “15 grand” to make a 2JZ hit the 10 second mark. correct...supras arent 10 second cars...they 7 second cars...i have personally worked on a supra w/ only about $7g and it is a low 11 second car. (no n2o, we dont believe in that stuff) just have to be smart and know what your doing. sorry for bringin up the supra again on a celica forum...but someone obviously knows a lot more about celicas than they know about supras... id look at the RPS Carbon/ Carbon Clutch but that costs $2,795.00. **** the Carbon Carbon clutch is one of the best out there and will last you a nice long time and works well with streetable rides. Dont forget to do something with that flywheel!
it ceases to amaze me how people buy supras and put the cheapest **** on them that they can buy. Oh look the JIC coilovers are $1700 but wait i can buy KYBs and some aerospeed "coilovers" for $500 total. Wow Ill go with that setup because Im sure its awsome and it saves me Sooo much money. My Answer to them RUN THAT BITCH OFF A DAMN CLIFF!! You wanna buy low grade **** put it on a civic not on a ****ing supra. now you can classify me as one of the many supra assholes.
