Octance boosters work? Options

I keep seeing stuff about octance boosters, as an easy thing to increase hp. i noticed a diffence when i switched from low grade gas to premium gas. most of the octance boosters say they will bost octance from 3-4 pts. Nos makes one that says it will bost 10 pts, but it also says "acts as a lead substitute" and thats no good . but in short, do these boosters work?

octain helps reduce early detonation. on a stock 5sfe, you may notice the car running smoother, but you dont get any power increase.

with a turbo car, the higher the octain, the more boost you should be able to run. if i put in a tank of race gas into my car, that alone wont make it any faster, but it will mean that i could probably turn up my boost a lot more then what i could do with pump gas.
