I know that the CAI gives you that extra air that the engine likes, but ive heard that it doesn't filter as well as the drop in filters and results in a engine life descrease. like 15-20% in some cases. Is this true or false?

CAI will not do any damage or any harm to your engine. Of course, a side-effect of installing a CAI is a heavy foot, which does increase fuel consumption and stuff. It will not make the car run lean, and it is not dangerous. It reduces air intake temperature, and increases flow velocity...
