also if anyone knows how much the 5sfe weighs to the 3sgte. also 3sgte has a iron block right? - making it heavier. -------------------- Former: 96 GT 5 speed (i/p/e) Fate- rear ended by mack truck

picked this off a forum about the MR2 NA vs MR2 Turbo
Really? What evidence do you base your opinions on? I wouldnt reccomend just a turbo engine either. This is because teh Turbo models use a E153 transaxle, a much stronger peice of equipment than n/a's A241E type transaxle, thus, the engine, along with the transxle must be replace. Also, turbo models had stronger axles, all together, better brakes(J-Spec), better suspension. ou would also need the turbo transmission, which cmoes with longer gear ratios. But, with the turbo, and its iron 3SGTE block (weighing in at ~300lbs) will weigh about 2800lbs, whereas the n/a is only 2600lbs. Overall, if you are planning to do the swap, (which isnt as hard as you think), here are some helpful links; so 200lbs, but if you had subs i'd say 150-180 someone else want to say what can be done(ie 5th gen springs on either front or back to counter the added weight)? -------------------- ![]() |
