My car is leaking oil somewhere and i can't pinpoint it. I replaced the valve cover gasket, but that's about it. What other gaskets/seals can contribute to oil leakage?

Clean the engine off, easy-off oven cleaner can be used according to Popular Mechanics magazine, its cheaper than regular engine cleaner, (but I wouldn't get it on any painted surfaces either) clean it, hose it off, let dry, then use an aerosol spray foot powder, should be able to see the source of the leak in the powder (I suspect they havn't looked under the hood of a Celica- pretty tight in there)
(taken from tips in this month's Popular Mechanics) From personal experience, it will be the highest and farthest forward point that is wet with oil, in your case, if it is above the oil pan, you have the valve cover, PCV valve/hose, camshaft seals, or head gasket, probably in that order of likelyhood ... |
