so yeah these may seem like dumb questions to some of you but remember i habe never ever been in any kind of auto tech class etc..
anyways does the 5s/all cars have a knock sensor. i know the 3sgte does. also the ecu/ ignition advances your timing automatically right? so if you have a knock sensor and your car advances your timing automatically it would advance your timing until the brink of knock right? kinda like a msd btm just for n/a cars right? - so running 106 octane would let your timing be advanced even futher correct? also my friends run 115 octane in there cars a lot and they say it add horse power and the only way i can see this is if there cars advance there timing even further. - these cars are de-cated -------------------- Former: 96 GT 5 speed (i/p/e) Fate- rear ended by mack truck
00 GTS 6 speed (i/ Bored TB 63mm - 68.5mm w/ butterfly/ Ported IM/ IMG/ PFC/ Commander/ datalogit/ Ported & heat wrapped Header/ Decat/ UEGO/) 193FWHP 14.2(1/4mi) @98mph, 2.12 60ft (just intake, unbolted Exhaust, and gutted) Fate- side swipped by 18 wheeler at 75mph. Next: maybe an elise |

yeah cars have knock sensor, yes your car will advance timing until knock is detected and then back off, higher octane burns slower and helps in prevention of knock, so yes ur correct in saying that more power is achieved through more advanced timing.
My question is, where the hell do they get such octane? The 1/4 mile strip I dont think has that high. -------------------- |
