There is a guy in my area selling an 86 SR5 hatch. It doesn't run, but the guy said it was a bad starter, it has a broken side window, he said there was little or no rust, and that the exterior was straight. He said the inside was in great shape for the car, and there were no cracks in the dash.
He is asking $500 obo. Just from what I have said, do you guys think it would be worth much of anything? I figured I could get it running with a blue top for less than a grand... Honestly, what do you guys think? I thought about offering $300 and a tow out of his yard for it. ![]() i'D Sooooo love to have a AE86 to mess around with, and if I could get it running, it'd be hella fun. ![]() And chech this out, the guy asked me "you want to turn it into a drifter?" during our conversation. I about hung the phone up, lol. |

Little knowledge on the subject, though Kwanza probably knows more than all in this thread.
The SR5 is indeed a AE86, however, its just the body code. The SR5 has all the same interior, rear axle, and drum brakes of the AE85. It also has the weak, underpowered 1.6L SOHC, similar to the 1.5L in the AE85. So, if you bought it you can do one of two things. 1. change the rear end and interior and engine and have a true AE86!!! or 2. Fix up the outside and tell everyone its a AE86 since they wont know the difference. lol. Go with 1. -Ti |
