There is a guy in my area selling an 86 SR5 hatch. It doesn't run, but the guy said it was a bad starter, it has a broken side window, he said there was little or no rust, and that the exterior was straight. He said the inside was in great shape for the car, and there were no cracks in the dash.
He is asking $500 obo. Just from what I have said, do you guys think it would be worth much of anything? I figured I could get it running with a blue top for less than a grand... Honestly, what do you guys think? I thought about offering $300 and a tow out of his yard for it. i'D Sooooo love to have a AE86 to mess around with, and if I could get it running, it'd be hella fun. And chech this out, the guy asked me "you want to turn it into a drifter?" during our conversation. I about hung the phone up, lol. |

well, when dude asked if I was going to turn it into a "Drift beast" it was sorta like him telling me the car could be "fast and furious." you know?
Also, Wouldn't I need a hell of a lot more than the engine harness and ecu? I woudl need all the accessories, and all the brackets, clutch parts, and possible a different tranny? And also, the speedo would be Way off, there are drums in the back(which i have NO clue where i could find conversion parts), the window is roken out of the car, so there is probably water damage. And from the way the guy was talking, the car is probably worse off than what he said. Apparently, a drunk friend of his broke the window out... Also, from what I read on the tech section of club4ag.com, the GTS parts swapping is a serious pain. All I'd really do is this: Get a good Blue top in the car, tre-work the interior in black cloth, and run the living hell out of it on the weekends. however, my dad said, and I quote, "you are waisting your time talking to people about cars like that. People even thought corollas sucked back then. that's why i bought a supra!(we had a 84 celica supra when i was really little. So, there is basically no talking him into it. |
