There is a guy in my area selling an 86 SR5 hatch. It doesn't run, but the guy said it was a bad starter, it has a broken side window, he said there was little or no rust, and that the exterior was straight. He said the inside was in great shape for the car, and there were no cracks in the dash.
He is asking $500 obo. Just from what I have said, do you guys think it would be worth much of anything? I figured I could get it running with a blue top for less than a grand... Honestly, what do you guys think? I thought about offering $300 and a tow out of his yard for it. ![]() i'D Sooooo love to have a AE86 to mess around with, and if I could get it running, it'd be hella fun. ![]() And chech this out, the guy asked me "you want to turn it into a drifter?" during our conversation. I about hung the phone up, lol. |

I want a fun little RWD car, but the 240's are more powerful, cheaper to work with, and I am afraid, hundreds of times more plentiful. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My AE86 when it was stock with a smallport can kick the crap out of 240's (KA24DE models). To run a 4AG... you will need a GTS tranny, or at least a GTS bellhousing. The speedo will be off, unless you find a correct speedo sensor (SR5 is different)... you'll need to run either a GTS fuel pump or rig up an external pump. You can use the SR5 fuel lines with some work, gotta set-up a fuel filter in the engine bay. The hardest part is finding the wiring harnesses. Everything else isn't too hard to find nor do (you can use a large variety of junkyard parts). SR5->GTS conversions are highly underrated. It's much easier than people think... The engine, depending if you want accessories or not... only needs an alternator. Used engines sometime come with all accesories and manifolds... so you just gotta look. I've purchased in the past, a smallport 4AGE, a B16A, a K20A2 all complete with everything. Anyway, if you do want accessories, the club4ag people can hook you up with that cheap. I may also be able to get some myself... Anyway... I'll just say an SR5->GTS conversion is a lot easier than what it's made out to be. I did mine in couple of days with a lot sitting and drinking... -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
