If the cost of centrif. blowers were not so high I would go this route in a heartbeat. |

This belonged to someone else who charged a 1ZZ. Then decided he wanted more power, so swapped the 1ZZ for a 2ZZ, and S/C'd that. Then added nitrous to that, stripped the thing out and turned it into a track car. It was, all things considered, bloody fast. Simon has also sucessfully supercharged a 3S-GE. Basically, if you want a quality job, this is the gentleman to talk to. Not cheap, however. But quality rarely is. His track celica was sold recently, and he bought a 3000 GTO TT. Which he blew up about 3 days later. ![]() -------------------- JDM ST205

Yeah, I've been here all my life. Good place to be! Some nice roads if you know where to look. =)
I don't own a Celica currently but I'm considering one as a basis for lite tuned daily driver / canyon runner. My main concern with the vehicle is that although I don't think it would take alot more power to balance the chassis, the 5SFE appears pretty much hopeless on paper. I've already decided that a swap is out of the question. I would prefer to do some NA tuning but it's just doesn't seem to be cost effective on this motor. The next consideration would be to knock together a low pressure turbo system which was looking promising. Your kit sounds like it might be a good solution though. I realize others here are probably looking for more but I think the car needs another 30-40hp to the ground spread as far over the rev range as possible. The stock torque curve of the 5SFE is actually pretty favorable for bombing ridges, but the chassis is capable in my eyes and could effectivly lay down about 30-50 more hp, imho. Also since I'd be operating at elevated RPMs for substantial periods (15 minutes to an hour at a time) I would feel alot more comfortable running 6 pounds of manifold pressure or less. I plan on finding a lower mileage engine and I'll be keeping stock internals. They don't lok like they're good for much more than that anyhow. I could be wrong. Not to mention it would bel a hell of alot easier to tune! I think you should hit up some Camry and MR2 sites when this gets further along. Alot of people should be on board. Don't be discouraged by newbs demanding 100 hp gains, either! They probably don't know what to do with the 130 they have! =D |
