In the rain i see some brakes i brake too early and too hard cuz i get scared. today i was racing around with ha WRX and impreza doing about 85 and then i have to brake and i braked too hard too early and went skidding towards the car and i was like AHHH! if i could just learn to brake calmly i wouldnt freak out! :-(

Engine braking and downshifting hurts the clutch only as much as normal shifting... it's a normal thing to do in normal driving and racing...

And if you're going 75 in third and downshift into 2nd to use engine braking, you're telling me thats not gonna hurt the clutch and is normal?

here everyone taks about normal things, is it normal to shift to 2 at 75 mph? so why dont you shift to 1 at 75 mph? maybe you will hear big boom biggrin.gif

I always down shift, or brake with engine - 2.5 year with my celi, and clutch doesnt slip... Its bigger stress on cluth if it is not relised fully while driving from stop...
