ok so most people on here are quick to say "the gt is better"
well it is , stock. but in my opinion, if you do not plan on doing a swap, it might be more beneficial to go for an st. the 7afe has a bigger aftermarket it seems, I think I read somewhere that it responds better to boost , that could be just retarded so feel free to call me out. I think the person who contributes to this the most is kwanza, Ive read his posts a lot and he has an ST and I want to say it could have probably beaten most of the GT's on this site. So what do you all think? In terms of not swapping, just keeping stock or maybe adding a turbocharger, what has the most potential with the most reliability as well |

I could break it all down... but that'll get too long.
The ST is a better base for a high-powered n/a track car whether it be a swap or a build-up. The GT is a better base for a high-torque big power turbo set-up. The GT has the displacement advantage. It's a matter of tastes. Everyone will supply a different answer. As for potential builds... an n/a 5SGE isn't gonna work out well because of the oversquared'ness' of the 5S block. It won't be able to spin efficiently to fully utilize the 'GE' head without some massive build-up. A 3SGE will actually be a more practical choice even with less displacement because it's a perfect squared design. A 7AGE build on the other hand, doesn't have as agressive of an oversquared design as the 5SGE so it can still hold revs fairly well due to it's fairly good rod/stroke ratio. That being said, a 7A turbo isn't gonna be abe to really match up psi for psi against a 5S turbo... but when it comes to turbocharging, the differences in gaps is a lot closer. Overall... it's a matter of tastes... I build n/a cars so I'd choose an ST over a GT, unless I plan on a 3SGE or something. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I'm an artist!"
