Whats the difference between a turbo and a super charger??

a supercharger's turbing is driven by a belt attached to the crank, which results in immediate boost, but it is limited by the pulley ratios. so you can't "turn up the boost"
a turbo's turbine is driven by the exhaust gases exiting the engine, which, in comparison to a SC, results in lag. however, small turbos applicable to our cars have hardly any lag at all. it's only when you go really really big that lag becomes an issue. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300
