I got pulled over for my tint a couple years ago and the cop said that he was just going to give me a verbal warning. He just said I can take it off with a razor blade and I said sure, I'll do that. His biggest mistake was just giving me the verbal warning. Of course I didn't take it off and I've never had another problem with the authorities ever since.
