 popping noise -and now problems with the new axles, no more ABS |

I've heard other cars make this noise, and I was wondering if anyone knows what it is. When I turn at small speeds in 2nd gear (I haven't heard it in 1st or 3rd), I hear an intermittent popping sound at the front wheels. Anyone have an idea what it is?

WTF! I just changed my axles and now my ABS doesn't work...Has anyone else had this problem??? The mechanic who changed them had no idea what happened.
