Hi All,
I'm new to 6GC and new to Celica ownership. Just bought one... clutch went... clutch replace by garage... but then ABS light comes on. I guess it’s just a wheel speed sensor that they've disconected and not reconnected properly. Here’s a list of things which I’ve tried so far: • Extract error code from computer. Result, 32, which according to my manual is “Left front wheels sensor”. • I slackened off the left side wheel arch protector, just enough to see the connecting plug at the top of the wheel arch. Visually, it appeared to be making a good connection. • I traced the cable down to the speed sensor, checked it was correctly inserted and the 10mm bolt was done up, which it was. The splines on the rotating hub, which generate the speed sensor signal appear intact. • Cleared the codes and turned ignition on. But the ABS light remained on. Can anyone think of a weak point that might have been damaged during the clutch replacement. Cheers for any helpful hints |

My ABS light is on due to a bad wheel bearing in the back right hub. The sensor is getting an irratic signal. Tried to source the part, but cannot replace only the bearings in the back. They do not sell that alone. You have to replace the whole hub assembly. The front bearing can be done alone, but you will need a press.
I would try to get the shop to pay for it if they were the cause. The sensors are very easy to damage while working in their vacinity. Good luck. |
