3S-GE SS-II Questions, Questions after a Celica test drive Options

Hello,

I took a JDM 3S-GE powered SS-II for a test drive yesterday and since I don't know much about these cars I have a few questions regarding things I noticed.

The car has plenty of miles on it +- 63000 and is a 1994-1995 model SS-II japanese import. The car is in a good condition all round and the engine and engine bay look clean, no 10 year old dirt and oil or corosion on the engine. The only aftermarket part I noticed was a HKS air filter.

After driving the car for 10 minutes I had a huge smirk on my face .... the car still has balls even with all that mileage. So it goes forward ok. My questions regarding the experience:

There is a slight vibration between 6K rpm to redline. This almost feels like the engine doesn't want to rev through to redline/cutout. What could cause this?

Shifting down from 4th to 3rd is very notchy. What could cause that?

Your advice will be much appreciated as I really want to buy the car, but I would first like to get some answers to the questions that bug me about the car.

Thanks dude. I was worried that these engines don't last very long but from what you telling me it sounds that the car has plenty more miles left in her. So does yours rev cleanly to redline with no vibration?
