The scanner at the local auto zone says this is my problem. Besides buying a new one for 150, is thee any way around it? cleaning it?

your egr valve actually recirculates exhasut gas back into the intake manifold. somehow and im not exactly sure why or how it does this but it actually lowers the temp in the combustion chamber. by having a bad one most people exerience spark knock or detonation. this sounds like having marbles in your engine and it is extemely devestating to the pistons. if i were you i would definetley look into replacing it or cleaning it. you can do this by taking it off and knocking the carbon build up out of the ports of the thing. hope this helps you guys
