i was talking to TTE about his Koni inserts and he mentioned that any 97-99 celica cant use inserts. you have to either get the whole shock assembly from toyota or buy some used 94-95 ones. anyone know if this is 100% true? tirerack.com seems to think that i can use inserts on a 98 without problems.

No reason why not... unless Toyota somehow totally changed the strut casing design and welded everything shut or changed the size or something. Seems unlikely to me because KYB inserts fit all of the models...
