I've been watching the UFC challenge/reallity TV thing. Man, I love it. I've never liked a show so much. I'd really like to be in the UFC. I've been training with the Toughman Compition in mind for about 2 years. But I think I'm going to start training for UFC now. I'm going to take up yoga and see if I can't find out some Ju Jits Sue or something like it. I've done boxing for 6 years now, wrestalling for 3, and I have a Red belt in Ti-Kwan-Do. I think I should finish up my Ti-Kwan-Do and get the black too. Thoughts and opinions?

I'd honestly have to see your picture to tell you the form of art I'd study. How tall are you at 245?
Everybody is a bit different. I have lots of fast twich muscle (scientifically speaking) so I can move very quickly, but not for extended periods of time. I spar with people with lots of the red muscle, and they are much slower, but have more stamina. Which are you? How is your flexability? Do you prefer standing fighting (I would think = boxing and TKD) I'll be honest, watching the "ultimate fighter" is the biggest let down to me. My instructor is a Tang soo Do third degree and is also fluent in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Our mat sparring gets more intense than the UF. sad ehh? My instructor pushes us to develop our own ideals and movements in ring sparring. I personally prefer a Muay thai approach. You boxing would be handy here. My advice: drop that TKD. I've not met a TKD fighter that I respected. The only one I have fought that I thought was fair kicked me only twice, and both times were below the belt. If you want to learn what you would ned for UFC go into kickboxing (preferably of Muay Thai orientation) and study the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for floor techniques. Loose some weight and be happy. Once again though, different things work for different people. |
