Transformation of an Engine Bay, Sorry 56K Users... Options

Lately I've been working on my engine bay. Tonight I finally got it to a point where I'm happy with it, so I figured I'd post some pics.


The beautiful 7A-FE engine bay, complete with fire-hazard wiring, overspray galore, and the mighty short ram intake.

This was taken the first sunny day after I got the car back from getting the engine swapped in.


A couple months later, more of the bay was painted.


Last weekend, re-working the wiring harness commenced. Doesn't it look like fun?



Here's what was removed from the engine bay. Tons of wires, loom, tape, extra plugs, map sensor, diagnostics box, etc.


Masked off and ready for more paint.


Done! Note the new valve cover and spark plug wire cover, in addition to the timing belt cover. No more wiring harness sitting on the valve cover either, and the OEM fuel injector wiring rail is now in place.


Another shot...it's dark again, but you can kind of see that more is painted. It looks really good in person.


The cold air intake rattled, and the battery power distribution wiring was a mess. The solution is an aluminum plate with a hole cut in it, and rubber insulation around the hole. Pics don't do this justice...it looks sweet in person...at least I think so.


Another shot. Yes, I know, that intake pipe needs new paint.

Gotta love that spark plug cover.

That looks excellent, clean, simple. Very nice. After I am sure I'm painting the car I'll have to do this painting also.

It's really not that hard...I spent maybe 3 hours total masking/painting...nothing to stress over. Be sure to use aluminum foil for masking stuff off...it makes masking lots of stuff a lot easier.

Wow, that wiring loom job looks a total nightmare, your a braver man than me for doing that job, end result looks fantastic though.

It actually wasn't that bad. I labeled all wires that I moved or cut with masking tape and a sharpie and just took my time. Though I was very worried that I'd screw up one wire or something somewhere and have problems that would be hard to find, but that didn't happen.

Looks hott, but why do all that extra work if your still selling? or arnt you?

Well, to be honest, I did all the work so that I could go out and take nice artistic pictures of my engine bay at some point. Though I'm sure the car is more attractive to a buyer with a nice looking engine bay.
