I read on here that there is something you can do to the st185 tranny so it doesn't turn the drive shaft anymore for the rear wheels. I can't find the thread anymore but has anyone done this and how does it work out? Also anybody have anymore info on this?

Using the st185 tranny would be a thing of indestructibility. That tranny should be good for over 700 hp. You need to use the st185 casing and mr2 lsd differential. This way you don't have to switch the shift actuator to the other side. And I believe you need to use the bellhousing side of the mr2 tranny with the diff. You would still need a set of mr2 inner shafts and st185 outer shafts for axles, but you would need the same combo if you used the mr2 tranny. This or the mr2 tranny(with st185 actuator and shift levers) would be a great bet.

I'm sure this link will only work for so long. Then you'll have to wait awhile.

Heh... so you reccomend "building" an MR2 E153? Heheh... FYI, the E154 (GT4 AWD trans) and E153 (MR2 turbo, Camry V6 trans) are essentially the same thing with different styles of diffs (FWD vs AWD)... Using the AWD tranny is not adviseable, and even if a person would be willing to go the lengths you describe to modify the E154, you'll still need to source an MR2 Turbo case and complete diff, not exactly easy to do. Usually people would rather sell a complete tranny than just parts of a tranny. As for the shift linkasge issue, who says it must be an MR2 tranny? Camry and Solara V6 5 speed trannies work also and their linkages are correct for a FF set-up.
