Well i know that guys like Charlie wanted to know about this. here is the background info

on the 94-95 ST's the timing can be adjusted by loosening the bolt on the distributor and twisting it.

on the 96+ celica ST's with PIA obd2, the distributor is locked. the mounting hole in the distributor bracket is only big enough for the bolt that locks it,

what i did to fix this(since adjusting the timing is very important when you go turbo) is i took of the distributor and then took the mounting bracket off of that.

with that done i put the bracket in a vice and using a drill bit that was slightly bigger than the bolt, i elongated the hole to where there was about 1/4 inch of metal left on each side(to retain some strength) and then i put it all back on.

now i can adjust the timing on my car several degrees in each direction.

i will try to get some pics but i dont have a digi cam and im not patient enough to put mods on hold until i can borrow someones camera.

Just get a MSD BTM

-Bryan-

that won't work. lance tried to install it and was unable to. i'm considering getting the apexi ITC tho. thanks for the tips man! glad you got it working.

Oh thanks for clearing that up. I don't want to mislead people. i hear it ill work fine for the 5sfte project so I just assumed it would help him out also. We'll see if it helps me or not in about 1-2 months.
