 Interesting Tranny Issue - Throwout Bearing? |

Lately my tranny has been making noise. When the car is in neutral with the clutch pedal out, the car will often make a sort of soft repetitive clacking noise. If I let off the clutch pedal very softly however, the noise is much quieter. And the noise disappears when I push in the clutch or when I am in gear.
Does this sound like a problem involving the throwout bearing? I had this problem before, so we replaced the throwout bearing when I put in a new clutch, and now I've got the same problem again.

Well, I do worry about it...it's not overly loud or annoying, but anything involving the tranny(you know, the thing that can explode, shooting parts through the firewall and into my body) worries me.
