The inner wheel moves less in either case, hence the name "differential." The limited slip differential uses clutches or fluid that engage when one wheel is spinning considerably faster than the other, so that more power is transferred to the wheel with traction.

QUOTE(mikew04 @ Mar 25, 2005 - 11:43 AM) The inner wheel moves less in either case." A good way to think about this is that if you turned the wheel all the way to the right and did a circle with the car, the circle made with the passenger side wheels would be smaller than the circle made with the driver side wheels. Therefore, the driver side wheels must travel farther regardless if you have LSD or not. That is why its called a "Limited" slip differential. If it didn't allow the differential to slip at all, you would bounce going around corners and turning would be very hard. -------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |
