so I was driving my car and went to get up on it so I punched the gas and my rpm's shot up to 4500 and stayed their until my speed caught up with the rpm's so I put it in a higher gear and the car should have had a problem picking up speed and the rpms should have stayed low but they shot back up to 4500 when I gave it gas not sure what the problem please help...with ideas

wiles it probilby the clutch there are other things that could cause that, 4500 is an odd rpm to "shoot up too" unless your not holding the gas much, when my clutch went out on my old accord (back in the day) the smell was not so bad, but it did not grab for anything, you would have to just barly let it out very low rpms to get it to grab then if you gave it to much gas to fast you lost it and boom your coasting.
could be a tranny problem, grinded out a grear or all of them, or the linkage from the tanny to axels. but i bet its your cluch -------------------- ![]() |
