I have the stock blinker relay and a 6x blinker relay. I want to wire it with a switch between the two relays so that I can switch back to stock speed if I find myself getting tailed. Has anyone done this?

How exactly would you wire up a pot to replace that resistor? I tried, using the two outside terminals on the pot connected to the ends where the resistor was, but the car just blinks a little bit faster than it did before, and adjusting the pot does nothing. I have a feeling that I was supposed to use the middle terminal on the pot for something...can you confirm this?
