Does anyone know of any turbos or s/c that are actually carb certified? I know Burien and Rippmods aren't, and since I'm new to the boosting concept I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious. I figure if I'm going to spend the money I may as well get something that won't get me hassled for the smog checks in CA. I did a search and someone mentioned Jackson superchargers. Anyone know of anything else? Thanks!

The smog gods just don't want to let us make our cars fast...legally. Anyone think it would fly if I just disconnected the turbo from the intake manifold and hooked up the stock intake in it's place for the test? I know people say to put it back to stock for the test, but with kits like the Burien, that would take pulling the header/turbo, and disconnecting/plugging all the oil/coolant lines. Would it hurt the turbo to have it just pushing air to the engine bay? Anyone tried this in Cali?

god, that just makes my head hurt.
you'd have to remove the WHOLE turbo setup for the car to run at all.
there are no carb legal setups for our cars.(turbo/supercharger)

Why is that? If I just disconnected the air hose that went from the turbo to my throttle body and reconnected the stock aircleaner, what would keep it from running? The turbo would just be spitting air into the engine bay, and there would be no boost, but I don't see why it wouldn't work?
