Hello guys and gals.
As some of you may have already read in a topic about a week or two ago, I have been looking into getting a 3sgte swap, my dilemma is that I live in California and I have a 1995 ST. Which means if I did proceed with a swap I would have to go with the latest 3sgte model found in the 1995 MR2 which is very rare and hard to find. So lately I have been looking at some other alternatives. I have looked at Niks setup and I like it alot, however, I think that with whatever I go with I want to try and pull near 200hp or more - I hate facking eclipses and I must compete with my friend ![]() I have considered taking my 7AFE which as 140,000 mi on it and having it rebuilt then turbocharged. I have also been looking at the 4AGE Blacktop (which was made from 1995- if im not mistaken, and would therefore make it a legal swap here in California) and then turbo charge it. I am just not sure which would be the better route. The easiest I could see would be to have the 7AFE rebuilt and turbo it. Another point I would like to get across is that I am not AT ALL mechanical. I suck at that part of a car, I only know the very basics. So when it comes to picking out the right parts and piecing out a good system, I suck. I have visted several corrolla sites both 7afe and 4age and I just feel SO lost. Please help guys - Input on which engine would be best to go with and stuff needed for a turbo setup to pull over 200hp if possible would be much appreciated! -------------------- Armed? Armed with what?
Oh I dunno, colorful language, bad breath, a feather duster...Whatta you think theyre armed with guns you tit! |

You can't swap in a 4AGE either because of CA law (must be a USDM engine, or must have been sold in the US). The last year the 4AGE was sold in the United States was 1992. That said, you can't legally turbo charge your 7AFE either. You're basically stuck if you're trying to do it legally. You can claim to be a 1995 MR2 Turbo with a 3SGTE, but you better follow the book with the wiring and emission parts. Another swap that is possible, the 1MZFE (V6) can be done legally.
