QUOTE(Mike @ Apr 14, 2005 - 3:01 PM) really? you guys recommend new shocks even with only a 1 inch drop? It depends on how much wear you've got on your stocks (sounds familiar). If you're like one lucky SOB and found a car with all of 9,000 miles on it, then your stock shocks are in the same condition, pretty much, as what you'd get with new OEM-equivalents. If like most people, your milage is in the six figures, your shocks don't have the ability left to handle the additional pressure for too long. How long they'll hold up is debatable, depending on the kind of wear they've taken and the kind of wear they'll face in future (e.g. auto-cross is not good for shock dampners). New ones, because they are new, won't take the same kind of damage old one would. It'll still wear out faster than new shocks are stock height, but that's the price you pay for looks. |
